Attic Exploring? (10 points for best answer)?

I moved into my house about 2 years ago and it's been sort of boring until i spotted a door or lid etc. on the ceiling since i don't have a ladder i took a broom and chair to try and move that door i looked from a distance and there was an un-solid space i think it's an attic anyhow my parents don't care about it and say i don't need to look inside and so their not going to help me with this exploring scheme and i don't know how i could climb up since i don't have a ladder or anything like that available. Could someone please help me out with advice?Thanks!
