Should i remain his friend?

I was dating this guy and found out he cheated on me. I caught him and he finally admitted to it. I broke it off but he says he still wants to be friends. I'm a little indecisive about it because even though I hate him for what he has done I still care about him. He has absolutely no family and the little friends that he has are leaving really soon. I don't know what to do.
