QUESTION ON GETTIN THE BIG BUCK, IN THE BIG WOODS?

For years now it's always been tradition to go to deer camp, pick a tree and throw some bait out and get a spike, 4 or a six point. We hunt big timber and it aint the normal pattern of, bed to feed like you see on tv. These deer are complete aimless grazers that have no pattern. You could scout for weeks on end to figure these boogers out. I guess it's a situation like you see when they hunt in Saskatchewan where they use alfalfa bales. I guess i'd like to try to phase out the bait but it's tough when you can just go on three day weekend excursions. Any tips or tactics could be helpfull !
