2001 f150 4x4 auto,the rear end chatters periodical ,does it have clutch plates inside that are sticking ?

there doest seem to have any play in the pinion gears.the cover does seep lightly,the tag on the diff requires synthetic lube.been doing this a long time.can go 2 months with no chatter/shudder.
