Is their a word or expression in English for jokes about something that could be a touchy subject?

I mean I also, speak Spanish. In Spanish their is a word for someone who jokes about a sad situatuion or a touchy subject to try to make light of it or uplift. The word in spansih is "cabron" although that word means something different in places like Puerto Rico and Mexico. In places li Uruguay it could me what I;m talking about. The saying in Spanish is "chalar or bromiar pesado" the crude translation word be "a heavy joke or rough joke". Maybe a Spanish speaker could help.
